don't do it!

Do not drink the last sip of your remaining beer, called „Noagl“.

The most famous Oktoberfest outfit is the traditional garb or a modern interpreted version of it. Former dirndl and lederhosn have been working clothes. Nowadays, this trendy outfit is the best choice for Oktoberfest or any other public festivals. In case you are looking for more information about the origins of the Oktoberfest, just visit our timeline.

Do take care of the dirndl bow, it shows your relationship status! The bow has a huge meaning – is the lady single, taken or is she not sure?

Go for it: If the bow is tied on the left from the ladies perspective, she might be open for a flirt. Beware gentlemen: If the bow is tied on the right from the ladies perspective she is already taken. Sorry guys! If the bow is tied in the front the lady is a virgin according to tradition. If the bow is tied in the back, most likely the lady is a widow or a waitress.

A lederhosen made of deerskin is the real classic. But as long as it is comfortable, any other leather is suitable, since it is more appealing the older and more worn it is. Combine it with a chic traditional shirt and matching shoes and you got the perfect outfit. Please leave your sneakers at home. Real Oktoberfest enthusiasts wear a belt with their initials.

Loferl are special stockings men are wearing with their garb. It is worn under the knee at the most powerful part of the lower leg. A pair of short socks will be hidden in the shoes.

There are a few things you should know regarding the Oktoberfest. For everyone who does not know what we are talking about, here is a little Oktoberfest ABC for you.

"O zapft is!“ which means "It‘s tapped“. The mayor of Munich utters these words every year, tapping a barrel. With these
words, the Oktoberfest is officially declared as open.

It is part of the Oktoberfest – the hangover at the morning after. Fresh fruits and vegetables as well as juices will help. Preferred drinks are without gas. However, it is no disgrace to take a headache tablet.

To prevent the hangover already at the evening before, try not to change your drink and stay with one sort of alcohol. Furthermore, a glass of water helps from time to time while celebrating as well as before going to bed. The best tip ever still is to drink less Oktoberfest beer for a fresh and new next day. You will definitively get a great night’s sleep at our Oktoberfest hotels.
